Spartanburg 2016 FLDD
The Atlantic Institute of SC organized it's annual Future Leaders of Dialogue Dinner on Thursday, November 3rd at the Spartanburg Marriott. The theme of the program was “Discovery, Partnership, Change,” teaching students how to discover their leadership capacity, create peer-to-peer partnerships, and create positive change in their communities. Our speaker was Allen Smith, President/CEO of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce and our MC was Martine Wilder, host of WGTK FM 94.5’s Upstate Live.
This dinner was sponsored by Converse College President’s Office, USC Upstate Scholars Academy, USC Upstate International Studies, Spartanburg Community College, and Inman United Methodist Church.
Table discussions centered around beneficial leadership qualities, the influence of technology, and the relationship between leaders and followers. Each table’s discussion was summarized and presented to the other attendees by a student table moderator. The insight and thoughts on this topic from the students was overwhelming to hear. Many enjoyed themselves and the experience they got from coming together. Following this, names of students were drawn to participate in the Leadership Bridge Trip to Columbia in February.
